At the start of the incident, someone intervened to separate them. The two then moved around the room, knocking over chairs and bumping into furniture as onlookers focused on the fight.

Additionally, people could be heard yelling, attempting to encourage the two to stop fighting, while some held back others in the room from intervening.

Adrian Peterson has explored poker since retiring from the NFL in 2026. He has also ventured into fighting, having been knocked out by fellow former running back Le’Veon Bell in an exhibition match in 2026, according to reports.

This isn’t the first time Adrian Peterson has captured the public’s attention; he and his parents have been in the spotlight for years, from the loss of his brother to his father’s arrest.

Adrian Lewis Peterson was born on March 21, 1985, in Palestine, Texas, United States, as the youngest son to parents Nelson Peterson and Bonita Jackson.

Furthermore, Adrian Peterson and his parents, Nelson and Bonita, had their lives begin to change when they lost a family member, Adrian’s elder brother Brian.

When Adrian was seven years old, he saw his nine-year-old brother Brian killed by a drunk driver as he rode his bicycle in April 1993. Since then, Adrian Peterson and his family have been enduring several tragedies.

Adrian Peterson’s Father, Nelson Peterson, Was Arrested When He Was Just 13

It hadn’t even been six years since Adrian Peterson and his parents faced the tragedy of losing their beloved family member, Brian. His father, Nelson, was arrested when Adrian was just 13.

Adrian’s father, Nelson Peterson, was arrested for money laundering acquired from the distribution of crack cocaine and to 10 years in prison on March 15, 1999.

He spent his sentence in the federal correctional Institute in Texarkana, Texas, until 2006.

During his time behind bars, he also lived at a halfway house in Oklahoma City and worked at a car dealership.

Nelson’s troubled life began after his brother accidentally shot him in the left leg while cleaning a .22 rifle, which left him unable to work and nearly led to his leg being amputated. Soon after that, he approached people about selling crack cocaine, but he never used it himself.

His first sale was in 1990s when he received $50 for a gram. On Dec. 24, 1991, he was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to five years of probation.

However, Nelson continued to sell, and after more than eight years of selling substances, federal agents kicked down the door to his home in Palestine and ended his operation.

Despite being imprisoned for years, Nelson Peterson never missed guiding and supporting his son, Adrian, in his football journey.

Prior to his sentence, Nelson Peterson was always there when Adrian was growing up, he went to every game, every PTA meeting, and even taught his son everything about football from how to put his hand over the top of the ball, to how to switch it to the outside arm and how to compete.

Adrian Peterson Inherited His Athletic Genes From His Parents, Nelson Peterson And Bonita Jackson

Adrian Peterson followed in the footsteps of his parents, Nelson Peterson and Bonita Jackson, both former standout athletes.

His father, Nelson Peterson, born in Palestine, Texas, was a high school basketball star who received scholarship offers from Rice, Houston, Stetson, and numerous other colleges.

Nelson attended Lon Morris Junior College in Jacksonville, Texas, and later signed a letter of intent with the University of Oklahoma in 1982, but he never made it to the team.

Furthermore, Adrian’s father, Nelson, went on to play at Idaho State in 1983, and during the 1984-85 season, he scored 603 points, which remains the seventh-best single-season total in the program’s history.

He was a great athlete, and was probably one of the best athletes that we’ve ever had,” , former trainer at Idaho State.

He left Idaho State without a degree in 1985 and tried out for an NBA team and a CBA team before the 1985-86 season; however, he was unable to begin his professional career as a player. He also participated as an assistant coach for a while.

Although he couldn’t play professionally, Nelson Peterson guided his son, Adrian, to excel in his NFL journey.

Similarly, his mother, Bonita Jackson, born to Willian and Doris Brown and raised in Palestine, Texas, is a former high school track star and a three-time Texas state champion at Westwood High School.

Bonita further attended the University of Houston on an athletic scholarship as a sprinter and long jumper; however, her dreams of playing professionally were cut short with the birth of Adrian’s elder brother, the late Brian.
