Aquinas High School Boys’ Soccer Coach Sixto Gonzalez, 57, Dies in Tragic Accident, Leaving His Wife and Kids Behind!

Respected soccer coach at Aquinas High School, Sixto Gonzalez, took his last breath in an accident on July 9, 2026, at the age of 57. However, the precise details about the circumstances of his demise are unknown.

Sixto Gonzalez is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Gonzalez, and their four children: Jonathan, Estefania, Victoria, and Alexandria Gonzalez.

Three of his children are Aquinas High School alumni, and his youngest, Alexandria, is set to start ninth grade there next month.

His daughter, Estefania, has built a career in diverse areas, from public service to strategic communication and cultural leadership.

She currently works as a Collaboration and Culture Manager at Equis Research, where she fosters a positive work-from-home culture and supports team projects.

Before this, she held the position of a Research Coordinator at Equis Research.

She also worked at RALLY, a communications firm, helping clients with media outreach, event planning, and social media strategies.

At the University of Southern California (USC), served as a Teaching Assistant, Research Associate, and Student Ambassador, guiding students, conducting research, and promoting the university.

She also organized diversity and inclusion training and managed events at USC. Additionally, she worked as an Administrative Coordinator for Loyola Marymount University and a Fellow for the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office, focusing on public safety campaigns.

With a Master’s in Public Administration from USC and a background in sociology, Estefania has a strong foundation in education and community outreach, having volunteered with programs like Inland Empire Future Leaders and Troy Camp to mentor young students.

At the moment, the Gonzalez family has asked for privacy during this difficult time, with memorial service details to be shared soon.

Born in Hidalgo, Mexico, on June 24, 1968, Sixto Gonzalez grew up with a deep love for soccer. As a young athlete, he played for Pachuca’s youth teams and Titanes de Tulancingo.

After moving to the United States, his passion for the sport only grew stronger. He became a key figure in the California Soccer League, where he brought people together through his love for soccer.

Sixto began coaching in 2007 with AYSO Redlands and later spent over ten years shaping the Aquinas High School boys’ soccer program.

Under his leadership, the team grew from a group of multi-sport athletes into a powerhouse and won a CIF Championship in 2018.

His coaching went beyond the field. Gonzalez cared deeply for his players, treating them like family and inspiring them.

“Sixto was a respectful man, passionate about soccer, and always stood up for his players,” said Norma Mendez, Director of Coaches at Redlands Blues SC.

Aquinas High School shared their grief, stating,

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Coach Sixto Gonzalez, who dedicated nearly 20 years to our school. Coach Sixto trained and mentored countless student-athletes, inspiring them with his wisdom, faith, and commitment.
We ask our entire Falcon family to keep Coach Sixto’s family in your prayers during this incredibly difficult time.
