Bay HS Teen Lacrosse Player Dylan Veselic Dies After Being Hit In A Game: Meal Train Aids His Parents In Grief

A student-athlete from Bay High School, Dylan Veselic, who was in the hospital and fighting for his life after being seriously hurt during a varsity lacrosse game on May 6 at Olmsted Falls, passed away on May 8.
Bay Village Superintendent Scot Prebles shared in a message to families that Dylan was in critical condition and had already had surgery.
People who were there say the injury happened when an Olmsted Falls player went to take a shot at the goal.
As the Bay defender tried to block it, the ball hit him hard at the base of his head, just below the helmet.
In response, the school has canceled May 8’s lacrosse game against Keystone.
Family And Friends Mourn The Loss Of Dylan Veselic
Over at Olmsted Falls High School, students and staff are also receiving support as they process the emotional impact of what happened during the game.
Olmsted Falls Superintendent Dr. Jim Lloyd shared his sympathy in a public message, saying the entire community is thinking of Dylan, his family, his teammates, and everyone at Bay High School.

He noted that both schools are close-knit, and when something this serious happens, it affects everyone.
He also praised the quick response of school staff, medical personnel, and first responders who acted fast during the incident.
While Dylan was in the hospital, friends and community members came together to help his family through a Meal Train fundraiser.
Friends and neighbors are encouraged to help by providing meals, which can be left in the bin on their front porch at 628 Lindford, Bay Village, between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. each day.
Gift cards for DoorDash or Uber Eats are also welcome and can be dropped off at the same address.
It helped the Veselic children order food easily when they mourned the loss of their beloved Dylan.
Friends, classmates, parents, and even those who don’t know the family personally are offering prayers and strength, showing just how deeply this tragedy has touched everyone
Bay High is a tight-knit group of kids. My nephew is a junior at Bay and runs cross-country.

- Known for his strong defensive skills and leadership on the field, Dylan also served as team captain.
- In his freshman year, he played both defense and LSM, wearing number 19. His team had a solid season that year, finishing with an 11-7 record.
