Patrick Agyemang, an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for MLS club Charlotte FC, is making his parents and family proud with his rising sports career.
Patrick Agyemang, the 24-year-old forward who launched his professional career with Charlotte FC in 2026, has quickly become one of the most exciting rising stars in U.S. soccer.
Making his international debut on January 18, 2026, Agyemang immediately made an impact by scoring his first goal for the U.S. men’s national team in a 3–1 victory over Venezuela.
Patrick also recently grabbed people’s attention with his remarkable performance in the 2026 CONCACAF Gold Cup final on July 6 against Mexico.
Although the United States team was defeated by 2-1, Patrick won the hearts of millions with his powerful display and continues to thrive in his career.
Similarly, from beginning his soccer journey at the young age of nine to reaching international levels, Patrick Agyemang always credits his parents and siblings, who have been his constant supporters through both the good and bad times.
Patrick K. Agyemang aka ‘Awjeemawn’ was born on November 7, 2000, in East Hartford, Connecticut, United States to Ghanaian parents, Patrick Sr. and Emelia Fynn Agyemang.
He has two brothers named Enoch and Emmanuel.
Patrick Agyemang’s parents, Patrick and Emelia, natives of Akim Oda, Ghana, instilled in him a passion and love for sports from a very young age and guided him in his sports career.
Similarly, Patrick Agyemang followed in the footsteps of his father, Patrick Sr., in soccer. His father is a former semi-pro goalkeeper and served as his first coach.
While very little information is available about his father, Patrick’s sports journey, Patrick Agyemang often expresses his love and appreciation for his Ghanaian parents.
Patrick Agyemang’s Family Fulfilled His Dreams Of Representing The United States On The International Stage
Patrick Agyemang often states how his parents made significant sacrifices to raise him and his brothers, enabling them to achieve success in their respective fields.
His parents, Patrick and Emelia, emigrated from Ghana to East Hartford and held multiple jobs to ensure that their sons wouldn’t have to compromise their passions.
Furthermore, Patrick’s father, Patrick Sr., a graduate of Hartford State Technical College, to pharmacies around Connecticut, sometimes for two shifts a day.
He also cleaned offices at night during weekdays when Patrick Agyemang and his brothers were attending school, but made time on the weekends to guide his sons on their soccer journey.
Patrick Sr.’s Facebook also displays that he worked at Nautica, a leading global clothing brand.
Likewise, Patrick Agyemang’s mother, Emelia Fynn Agyemang, works as a certified nursing assistant in retirement homes.
While his parents supported his sports journey, they also taught him to prioritise education, which helped Patrick Agyemang to balance his athletic career alongside his academics.
In an interview, Patrick Agyemang said:
“Ghanaian parents tell you education first, I knew I’d get my degree no matter what. It was sometimes hard because I really wanted to just play and not do the work sometimes. But I knew that me having my degree makes things so much better for life after soccer as well.”
Patrick Agyemang earned his Bachelor’s in Health Science from the University of Rhode Island.
