Mark O’Bryant, a Coosa Christian football coach, married Mindy O’Bryant, and they have three children. The married couple often shares glimpses of their personal lives on social media.

Mindy is a supportive wife who has pursued a professional career in the health sector.

Coosa Christian School will be without head football coach Mark O’Bryant for the entire 2026 AHSAA season following a suspension handed down by the school administration.

AHSAA announced the decision on Saturday, August 9, and they have been removed from the restrictive probation that had previously barred the program from postseason play.

The suspension stems from a violation of the AHSAA’s Coaching Outside the School Year Rule. It prohibits organized practices or competitions outside of the designated sports season for students in grades 7-12.

No administrator, coach or non-faculty coach from a school’s staff may hold organized practice (except during allowable period) or competition for its school or its feeder school students (grades 7-12) outside the sports season during the school year.

As a result, O’Bryant will have no contact with the football team during the upcoming season, which began practice this week.

AHSAA Executive Director Heath Harmon stated in a letter to former Coosa Christian headmaster Amanda Justus that the school could seek reinstatement for championship eligibility if there were no involvement of O’Bryant with the football program.

The Conquerors will now move forward under interim leadership as they prepare for the 2026 season.
