Born in January 2012 to parents Colleen Caputo Yoachum and Mike Yoachum, Chase was the middle child who grew up alongside his older sister, Elaina Caputo, 18, and younger brother, Cole, 10, in Sewell, New Jersey.

From an early age, Chase had a lot of energy and showed great enthusiasm, which shone through.

His mother, Colleen, described him as having a “heart of gold” in a touching Facebook post on his 11th birthday, a shared feeling by everyone who knew him.

He was a student, a star athlete with a passion for sports and a knack for bringing people together.

Wrestling was Chase’s true love, and he was a standout on the school’s team, known for his determination and sportsmanship.

But his talents didn’t stop there. As a soccer goalie, Chase helped lead his team, the Thunder, to a first-place trophy in 2026—a proud moment for the Yoachum family and the entire Deptford community.

His performance earned him the title of MVP, evidence of his skill and dedication.

Chase also competed in showcasing his versatility and love for staying active.

Those who knew Chase describe him as smart, kind, and endlessly loving.

He had a way of lighting up any room with his warm smile and gentle spirit.

Whether he was on the wrestling mat, defending the goal in soccer, or simply hanging out with friends, Chase’s presence was a gift.

His ability to connect with people made a big impact, and his absence has created a gap that is hard to express.

Colleen, Chase’s mother, shared her grief in a heartbreaking post alongside memorial photos of her son, writing,

“I have no words! My heart is shattered!! I love you Chase and will see you again!”

The images, capturing Chase’s journey from a bright-eyed toddler to a confident young teen, tell the story of a life filled with joy and promise, cut far too short.

Bill Douglass, another community member, shared,

“To say devastated would be a disservice to the word, but we as a family are mourning the loss of a classmate, a neighbor, a part of our little family community. Few minutes have passed where my eyes do not well up with tears as I run to hug my son. This loss has stung since we were made aware yesterday. Please keep and the Yoachum family in your prayers.”
