After high school, Donavan took his talents to Texas A&M University, where his star continued to rise.

In 2016, he won the NCAA 800-meter title, shattering a 50-year-old collegiate record with a blazing time.

The achievement earned him national recognition and cemented his reputation as a prodigy in middle-distance running.

Donavan’s NCAA victory was just the beginning.

In a bold move, he signed an endorsement deal with Nike and chose to forgo his remaining three years of collegiate eligibility to turn professional.

The decision paid off. In 2019, at the World Championships in Doha, Qatar, Donavan won the 800 meters, setting a new American record by surpassing the legendary Johnny Gray.
