A promising basketball player, Eric Bass Jr., took his last breath on July 13, 2026, at the age of 19; however, the details surrounding his untimely demise remain concealed.

Eric Bass Jr., who was born on May 3, 2006, is survived by his mother, Nakia Jackson, and his sister, Kandra.

His mother, Nakia, an economic support specialist at the Department of Children and Family Services, hasn’t broken her silence after his sudden passing.

A graduate of Albany Technical College, Nakia, previously worked at the Dougherty County School System, BellSouth Telecommunications, and AT&T.

She studied child development/early childhood education at Albany Technical College. Nakia also went to Ultimate Medical Academy and Dougherty Comprehensive High School.

His aunt, Mary Teemer, took to her Facebook to ask prayers for his family during this difficult time, writing:

Facebook Friends and Family, please keep my niece in your prayers. She lost her son yesterday. This is so heartbreaking. Another Fallen Trojan Soldier gone too soon. Please keep our family in prayers for the loss of my nephew Eric Bass Jr. We love you, Eric!!!!🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Eric Bass Jr. was a cancer survivor who rang the bell on March 31, 2026, after 8 months of successful chemotherapy.

On the significant milestone of Eric completing his cancer treatment, Ervin Josey praised his strength, writing:

Bass returned to the court after overcoming cancer, which spoke volumes about his resilience.

Eric Bass Jr. was a talented basketball player at Dougherty High School in Albany, Georgia, where he made a significant impact on the Trojans‘ varsity basketball team.

Standing at 6’4″ and weighing 215 pounds, he played primarily as a power forward and center while wearing jersey number 17.

Bass was a key contributor during his high school career, particularly in his senior year of 2026-24. Thanks to his skills, he earned a Player of the Game award on March 5, 2026.

In his junior year (2026-23), he helped lead the Trojans to a strong 17-12 record, securing first place in their region with a 9-1 record.

By his senior year, the team improved to an impressive 23-8 record, finishing second in their region (8-2) and ranking #30 in the state.

Bass’s stats from a recorded game in his senior year included 2 points and 1 rebound, with a 50% field goal percentage.

Tragically, Eric Bass Jr’s dreams and life were cut short in July 2026.

Following his sudden demise, Dougherty County Basketball paid their tribute, writing:

Rest up, champ. Your unwavering strength, unbreakable spirit, and unrelenting fight inspired us all to be better people. He will forever be part of Trojan Nation. Prayers up for his family and friends during these tough times.

At the moment, details about Eric Bass Jr’s funeral services have yet to be published.
