Amber Brunswig, the head softball coach at Eisenhower High School in Goddard, Kansas, recently passed away on the weekend of June 29, 2026.

In early June 2026, she suffered a serious cardiac event and was hospitalized in Wichita.

Amber Brunswig was placed in a medically induced coma and remained in critical condition for several days.

Despite the community’s outpouring of support, her condition worsened. On June 15, her husband, Preston, shared that , saying:

My amazing wife Amber, best mom ever to our kids, loved daughter and sister, is now at the end of her life in Hospice.

We so appreciate the ❤️ and support that everyone has provided to us. It means so much to see how she has so profoundly impacted her many communities through Teaching, Coaching, Advising, and just being the best woman possible.

We will work through our unimaginable grief with all of your support.

I’m so sorry to not be able to talk to all of you in person about our remarkable Amber / Mrs. Brunswig / Coach B / Bruns / Bunsy.

We will continue to celebrate her awesome life together.

She remained under hospice support for roughly two weeks before sadly passing away over the weekend of June 28–29, 2026.

Amber Brunswig Was A Accomplished Softball Coach For Over Two Decades!

Known affectionately as Coach B or Bunsy, Amber Taylor Brunswig built a remarkable legacy in softball, both as a player and a coach.

A native of Ark City, Kansas, she was a standout high school pitcher who helped lead her team to multiple state appearances and a championship win in 1996.

She began her collegiate career at Wichita State University, but an untimely injury just before the spring season ended her playing days.

Undeterred, she shifted focus to academics and earned her education degree in 2001.

Her coaching journey began in 2003 at Newton High School, where she coached for six years while also teaching.

After a break to focus on family, she returned to coaching in 2018 at Eisenhower High School in Goddard, Kansas.

Over nine seasons (excluding the COVID year), she amassed an impressive 114–61 overall record.

Her teams secured two league championships, four regional titles, and made four state tournament appearances, including two third-place finishes and one runner-up finish.

She was honored as AVCTL Co-Coach of the Year in both 2026 and 2026, and celebrated her 100th career coaching win in May 2026.

Brunswig’s passing has deeply touched the Eisenhower High School community and beyond.

Tributes have poured in from former players, fellow coaches, and families. They described her as a “pillar in so many lives” and a source of strength, mentorship, and inspiration.

The EHS softball team paid tribute to her, honoring Coach Amber Brunswig’s legacy with heartfelt messages, saying:

Our hearts are heavy as we share that our dear friend Amber passed away this weekend. 💜 She touched so many lives through her kindness and strength. Please continue to keep her family in your prayers as they navigate this time. We will share service details as soon as they are available.

Moreover, her family also expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming support shown from the day of her hospitalization to her final breath.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Amber Brunswig’s family, friends, and well-wishers.

Rest In Peace, Legend!
