ESPN Reporter Lisa Salters Credits Her Parents, Helen And Glenn, For Supporting Her Sports And Reporting Career

Lisa Salters, a former basketball player and current ESPN reporter, has consistently relied on the support of her parents throughout the highs and lows of her journey.

Lisa was born Alisia Salters on March 6, 1966, in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, United States to parents Helen Dorothy Turk-Salters and Glenard ‘Glenn’ Salters.

Furthermore, tying the knot in September 1965, Lisa Salters’ parents, Helen and Glenn, have been happily married for sixty years, raising both Lisa and her brother Daryl Glenn Salters to succeed in their respective fields.

Both natives of Carolina, Helen and Glenn’s wedding was a memorable occasion, and they at Community Baptist Church in a double-ring ceremony performed by Rev. E. T. Thompson.

At the time of their wedding, Lisa Salters’ father, Glenard’ Glenn’, was working as a junior high school teacher in Philadelphia, whereas her mother, Helen, was an honors senior student at North Carolina college pursuing her education in accounting.

Despite being the father of a renowned ESPN reporter, Glenn, a native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, prefers to maintain a low profile and hasn’t shared much about his life.

However, her mother, Helen, a native of Durham, North Carolina, often shares glimpses of their amazing life and her daughter’s achievements on social media, expressing her love and pride.

Likewise, Helen Turk-Salters’ Facebook page displays that she attended Merrick-Moore High School and graduated from Temple University with a degree in accounting and finance.

Lisa Salters often expresses her love and appreciation for her parents, Helen and Glenn, for being her constant supporters through all her good and bad times.

When ESPN reporter Lisa Salters into the Montgomery County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame on October 13, 2017, she celebrated the achievement with her parents, who proudly stood by her side.

“She’s excited about this because she’s back home,” said her mother, Hele, who was proudly attending the ceremony along with her husband, Glen.

Likewise, while giving the speech, Lisa Salters credited her father, Glenn, for teaching her about sports, including showing her how to throw a curveball.

“Dad, this is for you. We made it into the Hall of Fame,” said Lisa, expressing her gratitude to her father, who guided her sports journey.

Lisa scored 1,000 points in three years as a member of the Upper Merion basketball team, where she is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame. Helen and Glenn were also very supportive of Lisa’s career as a journalist.

Helen and Glenn are not only amazing parents to Lisa Salters but also wonderful grandparents to her 12-year-old son, Samuel Salters, whom she adopted.
