A devoted family man, Joe Whitesitt, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2026, at the age of 74 at Henry Community Health after a prolonged illness, the specifics of which have not been disclosed.
Joe Whitesitt is survived by his children, daughter and son-in-law James Pearson, daughter and son-in-law Courtney Houston, and son .

Likewise, he also leaves his grandchildren, Morgan Pearson, , and ; brother-in-law, John Sinischo; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe Whitesitt’s death comes just six months after the passing of his wife of 53 years, Deborah Whitesitt, who took her last breath on November 12, 2026, at IU Health University Hospital.
Whitesitt’s selflessness was perhaps most vividly demonstrated in his personal life. Married to his beloved wife, Deborah, for 53 years, Joe made an extraordinary sacrifice by donating a kidney to her, granting her an additional 25 years of life.

At the moment, losing both parents in such a short time has caused immense sorrow for their children.
In addition to his wife, Whitesitt is preceded in death by his parents, George Alexander and Martha (Joyce) Whitesitt, and siblings Joyce Sinischo and Jim Whitesitt.
Joe Whitesitt Was A Dedicated Athlete, Mentor, and Family Man!
Born on April 26, 1951, in Richmond, Indiana, to George Alexander and Martha (Joyce) Whitesitt, Joe Whitesitt was a proud 1969 graduate of Knightstown Community High School.
A multi-sport athlete, he made his mark on the Mays basketball team as a freshman and was a starter on Knightstown High School’s inaugural football team.
Joe excelled in several sports, including baseball, track, and shot put, showcasing his strong competitive drive and commitment to athletics.
His passion for sports remained throughout his life, as he avidly followed the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, and Indiana University basketball, especially during Coach Bob Knight’s tenure.
Joe spent 34 years at General Motors Guide Lamp, followed by eight years at IAF, while also pursuing farming as a cherished hobby.
Beyond his career, Joe was a man of many talents. An avid hunter, skilled woodworker, and enthusiastic collector of baseball cards, he found joy in creating and sharing his passions.
For several years, he coached softball, mentoring young athletes.
Joe Whitesitt was a dedicated member of Center Christian Church and actively involved in welcoming new members.
He happily took part in the church’s “Holy Hoosiers Club,” a fun nickname he shared with Pastor Darryl Denney.
A visitation will be held at Center Christian Church on Saturday, May 10, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
It is followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Darryl Denney. Burial will take place at Glen Cove Cemetery.
During this ordeal, we offer our heartfelt condolences to Whitesitt’s kids, grandchildren, friends, and extended family.
