According, the Tontitown Police Department arrested the former basketball star Makhel Mitchell, 25, early Saturday morning on April 27, 2026.
At 5:13 a.m., authorities arrested Makhel Mitchell, listed as homeless at the time, for third-degree domestic battery and driving while intoxicated (DWI).

Similarly, the officer released the former NCAA star later that afternoon at 4:34 p.m. after posting a $1,925 bond for the domestic battery charge. However, no bond was listed for the DWI charge.
Furthermore, the court scheduled a Rule 8.1 hearing for Monday, April 28, 2026, at 7:45 a.m. in Elm Springs District Court.
Makhel Mitchell will return to court on May 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. to face the charges.
While neither Makhel Mitchell nor his family has released a statement regarding his recent arrest, the news has circulated across the internet, with the former basketball star receiving mixed reactions.
Some people sympathize with Makhel Mitchell, who rose to fame as a basketball star and now identifies as homeless, while others argue that authorities marked him as homeless after the victim of the domestic violence incident allegedly forced him out.
One wrote:
“It’s domestic battery. Must’ve been her place. He allegedly beats her and then gets kicked out. Since it happened probably that night he’s listed as homeless. Doesn’t mean he has been on the street.”
Another added,
“Is he really homeless? If so that’s sad. I saw him at YeeHawg a few weeks ago. Should be a reminder that NIL money don’t last forever.”
