Ex-Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jason Conti is on life support after a severe brain injury and is not expected to survive past the weekend.

It was his friend at the University of Pittsburgh and former professional baseball second baseman, Kevin Kramer, who broke the exclusive news via his Facebook status.

Today I share the worst news imaginable – my friend and Pitt teammate Jason Conti suffered a severe brain injury and is on life support. Unfortunately, he is not going to survive past the weekend.
I’m devastated – as a team we are devastated. Rest in peace my friend. Pearl Jam is playing in Pittsburgh tomorrow night for you on your last night. My thoughts are with the entire Conti family.

A few hours after sharing the heartbreaking news, Kevin reflected on his last meeting with Jason in 1996, making the memory even more meaningful now that he is gone. He wrote:

When my son was born in 2011, we flew him out to Scottsdale to meet his grandparents. While I was out there, I reached out to Jason to get lunch. I hadn’t seen Jason since the 1996 season, and I wanted to catch up and hear about his playing days.
He brought three rings with him to lunch that day: his Pitt Big East championship ring, his Triple A World Series ring that he won with the NY Yankees and his MLB World Series ring that he won with the Arozona Diamondbacks.

Jason Conti enjoyed a strong and lasting marriage with his wife of 22 years, Cari Rockwell Conti, to whom he had been married since December 31, 2002.

Following the tragic incident, Cari changed her Facebook profile picture to one featuring Conti, without adding a caption or a status.

Meanwhile, details surrounding whether Conti and Cari had any kids remain unknown.

The former MLB player, Jason Conti, played in the big leagues from 2000 to 2004. He was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 32nd round of the 1996 MLB Draft and made his debut in 2000.

Over his career, he played for four teams: the Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Milwaukee Brewers, and Texas Rangers.

He appeared in 182 MLB games, recording a .238 batting average, 6 home runs, and 47 RBIs.

Cari Conti has had a successful career in finance and accounting, spanning over 25 years with roles at major companies.

She started as an auditor at Arthur Andersen & Co. from 1998 to 2000 and then worked as a senior consultant, managing a large project for General Motors.

From 2002 to 2005, she was a senior accountant at ON Semiconductor, handling financial reporting and compliance.

Between 2005 and 2012, Cari took on consulting roles at companies like Amkor Technology, CSK Auto, and Ameriprise Financial, helping with financial restatements, system implementations, and audits.

From 2012 to 2019, she served as VP, Global Controller at Limelight Networks, leading a team to streamline accounting processes and save costs.

In 2019, she briefly worked as a controller at Integrated CBD, a startup. From 2026 to 2026, she was a director at Axon, overseeing the implementation of a cloud-based ERP system.

Cari then served as VP Corporate Controller at Ascot at Leslie’s from 2026 to 2026, a major pool and spa retailer.

Since July 2026, Cari has been the VP, Global Controller at Blue Yonder, a leader in digital supply chain solutions, where she continues to lead financial operations.
