Former Offensive Lineman Dan Gyetvai, 47, Passes Away, Leaving His Fiancée and His Two Daughters!
Dan Gyetvai had a four-year professional career in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Windsor Lancers former offensive lineman Daniel Edward Gyetvai, better known as Dan Gyetvai, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 19, 2026, at his home in London, Ontario, at the age of 47.
Dan Gyetvai is survived by his fiancée, Jill Disik, and his two daughters, Kja and Cali, as well as their mother, Nissa Boulanger.

Likewise, Dan also leaves behind his mother, Angie; his sister, Kristen; his brother-in-law, Matt; his brother, Mike; his sister-in-law, Sandra; as well as his nieces and nephews, Eddy, Samantha, Angela, and Patrick, and his cousins.
Whereas his father, Edward Gyetvai, and brother, Steven Gyetvai, passed away before him.

During his time at the University of Windsor, Dan shone as a football player for the Windsor Lancers. Not to forget, he also earned a spot on the All-Canadian football team twice in 2000 and 2001.
Eventually, thanks to his skills, he landed a four-year professional career in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
In 2007, Dan Gyetvai was honored on the Gino Fracas Wall of Honour.

A standout at Michigan State, he started 23 games across multiple positions, excelling at both guard and tackle. In 2007, he was selected third overall in the CFL Draft by the Calgary Stampeders.
Just like Dan Gyetvai, brother Mike also pursued a degree in mechanical engineering.
After retiring from professional football, Dan chose to focus on family and farming with his father. That said, he stayed connected to the sport he loved by working as a football referee.
Dan also built a successful career as a mechanical engineer, working at Cami Automotive, Labatt’s, and later as a manager in the Facility Management department at Western University.
The former athlete enjoyed woodworking, cooking, going to the gym, and recently discovered a passion for kickboxing. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends.
A memorial for Dan will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre in London, Ontario. Visitations are scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 7:00–9:00 p.m.
Whereas, A Celebration of Life will take place on Sunday, June 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with a livestream available for those unable to attend.
During this ordeal, we offer our sincere condolences to Gyetvai’s fiancée, daughters, mother, friends, and extended family.
