Lieutenant Bryan Wilson, a respected firefighter, loving family man, and proud St. Agatha High School varsity athlete, has passed away at the age of 52 after suffering a heart attack while off duty.
The announcement came directly from the Detroit Fire Department, which honored Wilson for his service and the lasting legacy his family has built within the department, spanning five generations since 1917.
The department shared in a public tribute,
“Today is a rough day for our Detroit Fire family. Lt. Bryan Wilson passed away from a heart attack suffered off duty earlier today. Our paths did not cross often, but I can’t remember seeing him without a smile on his face.”

In Bryan’s generation, four of his brothers and a brother-in-law have served with the department.
Bryan Wilson Was A Proud Aggie And Athlete
Before dedicating himself to firefighting, Wilson was known as a standout athlete at St. Agatha High School, where he played varsity baseball and football.
Former classmates and fellow alumni remembered him fondly as a true “Aggie,” beloved for both his strength on the field and his loyalty off of it.
One tribute read,
“THE AGGIE NATION…and the CLASS of ’91…has lost a brother. You served well, brother. Rest high on the mountain.”

One friend recalled a near-death experience during a fire they fought together early in their careers:
“My partner in one of the first fires… I really thought ‘This is it, bro, we’re done.’ Rest in Paradise, my brother Bryan Wilson.”

Bryan’s grandmother shared her own aching loss by writing,
“I lost my godson Bryan yesterday and am heartbroken 💔 We lived miles apart but he always had a very special place in my heart. Prayers to his wife Kristi, their daughters, and my whole extended family. Fifty-two years old is way too young to leave this earth.”

Additionally, he is mourned by the entire extended Wilson family.
