Andre Agassi’s son, Jaden Gil Agassi, followed in his parents’ footsteps into the sports world; however, he chose baseball over tennis.
Jaden Gil Agassi was born on October 26, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at Valley Hospital to Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, two of history’s most celebrated tennis players.
He is the first child of , an American tennis icon who won eight Grand Slam titles, and a German tennis legend with 22 Grand Slam singles titles.
Not many of us might know, but his first name came from his mother’s love for the word “jade.” His middle name, “Gil,” was given to honor his father’s trainer, Gil Reyes.
The -year-old Jaden’s baseball journey began in Las Vegas, where he played for local youth teams and the Las Vegas Recruits.
His exceptional skills earned him accolades, including being named to Perfect Game’s All-Tournament Team in 2016 with a .405 batting average.
The following year, Jaden received four MVP honors, such as the “Most Valuable Pitcher” at the 2017 Perfect Game West MLK Championship.
In 2017, Jaden committed to play college baseball at the University of Southern California (USC). However, his career faced setbacks.
In 2019, he underwent Tommy John surgery on his elbow after an injury, missing his junior year of high school.
The 2026 season was cut short due to COVID-19, but Jaden used the time to recover and improve. He later said the extended rehab was a “blessing in disguise” because it made him stronger.
At USC, Jaden played as a pitcher for the Trojans. In 2026, his sophomore year, he appeared in 15 games, posting a 3-2 record with a 4.34 ERA and 38 strikeouts over 64.1 innings.
He earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Conference team. However, his junior year in 2026 was tougher, with a 9.70 ERA, partly due to a coaching change.
Overall, Jaden had a 6.20 ERA across 117.2 innings in college.
After college, Jaden joined the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the MLB Draft League in 2026.
He showed promise, striking out eight batters in seven innings with a 1.29 ERA in his first two starts.
In 2026, he made headlines by pitching for Team Germany in the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in Tucson, Arizona, thanks to his German citizenship.
Jaden had a tough start, giving up four runs in less than one inning during his first game against Brazil. But he is determined to achieve his dream of playing in Major League Baseball.
Andre And Steffi Never Pressured Their Son, Jaden, To Pursue Tennis!
Despite his parents’ fame as tennis players, was never forced to follow in their footsteps. Instead, they encouraged him and his sister to follow their own passions.
Unlike tennis, which his father once called “the loneliest sport,” Jaden enjoyed baseball’s team spirit and the fun of playing with friends from early on.
Jaden tried various sports but fell in love with baseball at age six when he started playing T-ball.
He was homeschooled during high school, which allowed him to focus on baseball. Andre and Steffi has always been supportive of Jaden’s baseball journey.
In a 2026 Instagram video, Andre shared that Jaden tried tennis briefly but quickly grew tired of it, saying:
Against the garage wall for an hour, then he was almost tired of it.
Likewise, Andre has also spoken about the challenges of raising a child in the spotlight. In a Sunday Mail interview, he emphasized that he and Steffi focused on their kids’ happiness, not their careers, saying,
Tennis? I just think we’ve had enough, quite honestly… For us, it’s about raising our children in a way we can share in their life and not always worry about their life.
Likewise, Jaden has often credited his parents for their support in helping him pursue baseball.
In a 2026 interview with WKBN News, while playing for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, Jaden spoke about how his parents’ experience as elite athletes helped him, saying:
They help me out in so many ways I couldn’t even name, but they’re a great resource.
Likewise, he expressed gratitude in another interview with “HELLO! Magazine” in 2026. He said:
They’ve been through it all and seen it all, and they’ve been a huge help. They have so much support and love for me, and I can always count on them.
Jaden has also talked about being inspired by his parents’ work ethic and expressed his wish to inherit it.
In a 2026 MLB article, he said, “One thing that’s really rubbed off on me is their work ethic. It’s really a blessing to get taught that at such a young age. I truly appreciate how much it takes to be the best at something.”
