On April 26, 2026, Bunker Hill, Illinois, mourned the loss of 29-year-old Austin Gene Monetti, who tragically died in a motorcycle accident.
The news of the Austin Monetti accident shocked his community. His wife, Paige, his family, and many friends are now dealing with a terrible loss.
Austin Gene Monetti was born to Rhonda Hallows Monetti and Gene Monetti and grew up alongside his brother, Brandon, in East Alton, Illinois.
From a young age, Austin’s infectious energy and warm smile made him a friend to everyone.

Wearing the #28 jersey as captain of the varsity football team, Austin earned accolades as both Defensive Player and Offensive Player of the Game in 2012.
He also shone in his #15 jersey on the baseball field and dominated the basketball court as a forward in #33.
His teammates remember him as a leader who lifted others up in victory and defeat. Austin graduated in 2014, leaving behind a legacy of grit and camaraderie.
After High School, Austin Threw Himself Into His Career With The Same Passion He Brought To Sports
working the land for over two years.
From there, he took on roles as a maintenance mechanic and carman at Watco Companies LLC, followed by a stint as a welder at Ketcham’s Sheep Equipment.
Since 2017, Austin has been a lead carman at Metro East Industries in East St. Louis, Illinois.
His coworkers admire his work ethic and his ability to lighten the mood, even on the toughest days.
Austin’s greatest joy was his wife, Paige Monetti. The couple married on October 18, 2026, in a ceremony filled with love and celebration.
Austin and Paige have been together since 2018.
at Mercy Heart Hospital South and Alton Memorial Hospital, also runs Poppin’ Parties with Paige, bringing joy to others through her event planning.
Austin and Paige were inseparable, building a life full of shared dreams and quiet moments.
Paige’s heartbreak after the Austin Monetti accident has moved everyone close to her.
Austin’s bond with his brother, Brandon, was unbreakable.
Brandon shared a memorable video in a heartfelt tribute and wrote,
“My first best friend in this crazy life is gone too soon. I love you brother, until we meet again”

“Just a few days ago, we were talking and laughing like always. I still can’t believe you’re gone. … we started jiu-jitsu at the same time. We trained side by side for years. If I have any skill in jiu-jitsu, it’s because of you. We spent countless hours on those mats, grinding, learning, joking between rounds.
You brought so much positivity into Headnod u were always smiling, always lifting others up, no matter how hard the day was. You were a good person — one of the rare ones. ou were more than a training partner — you were my brother. And you’ll be missed forever. I’ll carry your memory with me every time I step on the mat.”
He described their countless hours grinding, learning, and joking between rounds.
Austin’s positivity was a light in the gym, his smile a constant even on the hardest days.
Another friend, a coach at Headnod, wrote,
“I’m heartbroken to hear about the passing of my student and friend Austin.
We were training together just this week and making plans for the next tournaments that we would all do.
Austin was such a funny, fun, and good dude.
The mats at Headnod will never be the same without him.
RIP Buddy, you will be greatly missed.”
And others wrote-:
“Rip to my teammate such a great person passed in a motorcycle accident last night. One of my favorite rolling partners and just all around great human being Austin Monetti roll in peace brother 😢”
ViaAustin’s humor, kindness, and zest for life left an indelible mark on the jiu-jitsu community.
Austin is survived by his wife, Paige, his parents, Rhonda and Gene, his brother, Brandon, and many other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mildred Bohenestiehl, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
The Austin Monetti accident has left a void in Bunker Hill and beyond, but his legacy lives on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared so freely.
