Jarred Shaw, an American professional basketball player who last played for the Tangerang Hawks of the Indonesian Basketball League, has made headlines with his recent arrest.

Recently, on May 7, 2026, Jarred Shaw, who was playing for the Tangerang Hawks, was arrested after allegedly attempting to smuggle illegal drugs into the country.

According, he was arrested after the Indonesian police raided his apartment just outside the capital, Jakarta, and seized 132 pieces of cannabis candies.

Moreover, the arrest followed a tip from the airport’s customs that Shaw received a suspicious airway package from Thailand.

According to Indonesia’s anti-drug laws, anyone involved in smuggling illegal drugs can face a life sentence or even the death penalty if found guilty. In that case, Jarred Shaw could spend the rest of his life behind bars or face an even harsher fate if convicted.

According to Ronald Sipaying, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport police chief, they are still running the investigation to uncover the international drug network behind this case and to stop its distribution.

“Similarly, his arrest, and a video showing police detaining Jarred Shaw, has captured the attention of millions, who are now eager to learn more about his personal life, including details about his parents and siblings.

Jarred Dwayne Shaw was born on September 28, 1990, in Dallas, Texas, United States.

While no information is available about his father, his mother, Johnetta Perry, who goes by Jay Perry, often expresses her love for her son.

Although Johnetta prefers to maintain a low profile and hasn’t shared much about her professional life, she is a former student-athlete from South Oak Cliff High School, where she graduated in 1976.

Johnetta Perry raised Jarred Shaw and his three siblings as a single mother.

Jarred Shaw shares a close bond not only with his mother but also with his three siblings, who have stood by him through both good and difficult times.

Moreover, Jarred Shaw has an older brother named Jonathan and two younger siblings, a brother named Josiah and a sister named Shekinah.

While very little information about Jarred Shaw’s siblings is available as they prefer to maintain a low profile, Jarred often expresses his love and respect for them on social media.

All three of his siblings have been constant supporters throughout his on- and off-court journey, always cheering him on as his biggest fans.

Moreover, the Shaw family is currently asking people to keep them in their prayers and support their efforts to seek justice for Jarred Shaw, who has been arrested. They firmly believe in his innocence.

While no information about his elder brother and sister is available yet, his younger brother Josiah Shaw’s Facebook page displays that he attended Hillcrest High School, Justin F. Kimball High School, and Carter High School.

Josiah’s is also filled with support and love for his brother Jarred Shaw.

In addition to his siblings, Jarred Shaw is also blessed with several cousins, who are currently fighting for his justice.

His brother, a business owner based in Dallas, Texas, took to social media and stated,

” Please pray for my family in support of my brother Jarred Shaw.”
