The Bangor community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jack Lagasse, a gifted student, musician, and athlete whose life was tragically cut short.
His passing was confirmed by his father, Jim Lagasse, who often proudly shared Jack’s piano performances and milestones with friends and followers on social media.
Jack was a junior at John Bapst Memorial High School, Class of 2026, where he was known for his excellence both in academics and the arts.
He was a dedicated member of the school’s concert band and had been playing the piano for over 12 years, performing in recitals and musicals with ease and grace.
His musical talent was widely admired, with many remarking how effortlessly he made it look.
Jack Lagasse Was Also A High School Athlete
In addition to his musical abilities, Jack was also an athlete, competing as a sprinter on the high school’s indoor track team, where he ran the 1-mile race with a personal record of 5:51.02.
In October 2026, Jack was honored with selection into the National Honor Society, a recognition of his academic excellence, leadership, and character.
Jack had bright aspirations for the future.
He dreamed of pursuing a career in law, and there was no doubt among those who knew him that he would have left a lasting impact on the world.
Jack Lagasse Was His Father’s Pride
His father, Jim Lagasse, shared countless videos of Jack’s piano covers on social media, each one a testament to Jack’s passion and discipline.
Those who followed his journey felt like they knew him as a gifted, kind-hearted young man with a promising future.

The community will gather at Broadway Park in Bangor this Friday, June 20th, from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. for a Candlelight Vigil to honor Jack’s life and memory.
Located at 250 Broadway, the vigil welcomes all who wish to pay their respects, with candles provided for attendees.
Jack Lagasse will be remembered not only for his incredible talent and achievements but also for the warmth, hope, and joy he brought to those around him.
