Ladysmith High School teacher and coach Jacques Pretorius reportedly died due to a heart attack.
According to Jacques Pretorius’s official page, he resided in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, and attended Ladysmith High School.
Later, he studied Math and Science at Dokkies and graduated from the Durban College of Education.
At Ladysmith High School, Jacques taught physical science and also served as a coach for sports.
Sports Coach Jacques Pretorius Passed Away At The Age Of 56
Born on July 29, 1969, Jacques Pretorius took his last breath on Saturday, June 21, 2026, at 56.
As per the reports, Jacques suffered a heart attack and died despite the best efforts of paramedics.
Ladysmith High School Deputy Principal Mr. Maitland officially announced Jacques’s death and the tragic loss. He said,
“It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the sudden passing of one of our educators, Mr Jacques Pretorius. Mr Pretorius was a senior Physical Science teacher and a beloved sports coach. “The entire Ladysmith High School family mourns his loss and I ask that you keep the Pretorius family in your thoughts and prayers.”
He also announced that the school will remain closed on Monday, June 23, 2026, to honor Jacques.
Moreover, the exams for all grades that were scheduled for Monday will now be administered on Friday, June 27, 2026.
Blink Report also took to their Facebook and Jacques’s death. They wrote,
Mr. Jacques Pretorius, a senior Physical Science teacher at Ladysmith High School, has sadly passed away. He is remembered fondly not only for his dedication to education but also for his role as a beloved sports coach, leaving a lasting impact on students and the school community.
Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Jacques’s family to stay strong in this challenging time.
He will always be remembered for his unforgettable contribution as a physical science teacher and sports coach for Ladysmith High School.
His family will soon announce Jacques’s funeral service schedule.

Physical Science Teacher Jacques Pretorius Is Survived By His Wife, Ilse Pretorius, And Two Children
Sports coach and teacher Jacques Pretorius married . However, their exact wedding date has not been mentioned.
Although Ilse stayed out of the media spotlight, she helped Jacques balance her professional and personal life.
Sadly, their married life ended following the tragic death of Jacques.
Jacques and Ilse were blessed with one son and one daughter. They managed to keep their children’s identities private.
However, Jacques has posted some of celebrating vacation with his children back in 2012.
They are also mourning the tragic death of their supportive and devoted father, Jacques Pretorius.
