Fairfax High School suspends two football coaches over improper player recruitment allegations, as an ongoing investigation by the school with independent investigators aims to uncover the truth.

At the moment, Fairfax High School is facing a challenging situation as two of its football coaches have been placed on administrative leave following allegations of improper player recruitment practices.

The suspensions come after a preliminary review into allegations of improper player recruitment. That said, so far, the names of the coaches haven’t been shared publicly.

An email sent by the school principal to parents explained the decision and emphasized the school’s commitment to integrity and student welfare.

The news was first discussed on the All Hitches- The NoVA Football podcast, where hosts shared that several parents forwarded them the email from the school.

In the email, the principal wrote:

We have placed two of our coaches on administrative leave following a preliminary review into allegations of player recruitment. We are working with independent outside investigators to understand what may have happened and will take appropriate action based on their findings.

According to the message read on the All Hitches podcast, the school emphasized that the investigation is still ongoing. They are now working with independent investigators to investigate the incident and to decide next steps based on the findings.

The principal acknowledged that the timing is difficult, especially with football practices for the upcoming season about to begin.

The email stressed the importance of integrity, trust with families, and putting students first during this process, although the decision was tough.

The All Hitches podcast hosts expressed concern for the young athletes caught in the middle, saying:

There are a group of young men right now who are now in the middle of something that they had no part in… They now have an unclear vision of what’s going to go on with their football season.

This situation reminded them of a previous controversy at Hayfield Secondary School in 2026, where similar recruitment issues led to a two-year playoff ban and significant community backlash.

The hosts hope lessons from the Hayfield situation will guide Fairfax High School to handle this fairly and transparently.

Meanwhile, the school has promised to keep parents informed and encouraged anyone with information to come forward.

For now, the Fairfax High School community awaits the investigation’s findings to see how this will impact the football program and its student-athletes.
