Tony Dungy, who made history as the first African American head coach to win a Super Bowl with the Indianapolis Colts, and his longtime wife, Lauren Dungy, continue to inspire millions through their community work.

Tying the knot on June 19, 1982, the Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Dungy and his wife, Lauren Harris Dungy, have been happily married for over 4 decades, being each other’s constant supporters through all their good and bad times.

Together, the couple established the Dungy Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works with Christian organizations, pregnancy care centers, and youth programs in Florida, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Indiana since 2010.

Similarly, Tony Dungy co-authored a book named Uncommon Marriage: What We’ve Learned about Lasting Love and Overcoming Life’s Obstacles with his wife, Lauren.

According to reports, Tony Dungy first met his wife, Lauren, a native of Pennsylvania, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church through the Pastor.

At that time, Tony was serving as an assistant coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Lauren was working as a teacher at an elementary school.

Born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Lauren graduated from Quaker Valley High School and earned her degree in Elementary Education from Duquesne University before becoming an elementary school teacher for many years.

Although she no longer teaches, Lauren continued to guide and motivate children, writing several children’s books with her husband, Tony.

Additionally,is a member of Grace Family Church, where she is involved in children’s ministries, leads Bible studies, and participates in the Church’s community outreach.

In 2012, she launched the Iron Sharpeners, a running group dedicated to helping women develop physically and spiritually.

Tony Dungy And Lauren Harris Dungy Are Proud Parents Of Ten Children

Tony Dungy and his wife, Lauren, both pro-life Christians, are proud parents of seven boys and three girls, seven of whom were adopted.

Additionally, they have three biological children: a daughter named Tiara, and two sons, Eric and the late James.

Their seven adopted children are Jordan, Jade, Justin, Jason, Jalen, Jaden, and Jaela.

In an interview, Lauren stated:

“Adoption has always been part of my life. From an early age, I saw relatives and family in our church adopt or foster children. Because our church talked about it, adoption felt natural to Tony and me.”

Initially, a proud couple of 11 kids, the couple faced tragedy when they lost their son James Dungy, who took his own life on December 22, 2005, at the age of 18.

Likewise, their other biological son,  followed in his father, Tony’s, footsteps in football and played as a wide receiver for the University of South Florida’s men’s football team.

Eric also showcased his impressive football skills while playing for the University of Oregon, from which he graduated in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. Additionally, he won three state championships at Plant High School.

Eric has been serving as the for the Compass Sports and Entertainment Division in the Greater Tampa Bay Area since 2017.

Likewise, their adopted son Jordan,a rare condition called congenital insensitivity to pain, defied the odds. After undergoing multiple surgeries and attending college, he now leads a joyful life.
