Following the sudden death of Gary McBryar, tributes pour in from across the community.
Gary McBryar’s sudden death has left an irreplaceable hole in the hearts of the North Gwinnett and Loganville communities.
A beloved baseball coach, friend, and father, Gary passed away unexpectedly overnight at his home—just days after the funeral of his mother, Margie McBryar.
His passing comes as a double blow to the family, which had already been mourning the loss of his parents, and the late Ray McBryar.
North Gwinnett Athletics paid tribute to him on social media, stating,
“Heaven gained a Bulldog today.”

As a longtime assistant baseball coach, Gary poured his heart into the program and the people in it.
His passion, dedication, and boundless care for others shaped the lives of countless young athletes.
The Mountain View Bears Football program the loss, describing Gary as a “HUGE presence” in their community.
It is with great sadness to share that Gary McBryar-a HUGE presence at MV – has passed. Gary did it all for this community! His time & talents have been tremendously helpful, & he gave them both asking little in return. He selflessly served our community. We will miss him deeply.

He gave his time and talents selflessly, never asking for anything in return. From coaching to community service, Gary’s devotion and generosity never went unnoticed.
Those closest to him remember Gary not just for his involvement in sports but for the kind of person he was.
Coach Katz described him as “the ultimate teammate” and someone who “would do anything for anyone.”
His words captured the emotional weight of the loss:
“The world is a little less bright today without you in it.”
On Facebook, longtime friend John Poitevint wrote a heartfelt tribute, calling Gary
“the best friend I have ever known.”
He also asked for prayers for Gary’s sons, Jeremy and Jonathan, as well as their wives and children.
Poitevint emphasized how Gary’s life was a gift to everyone who knew him and quoted Scripture in reflection of his faith and impact.
Center Hill Baptist Church in Loganville, where Gary and his family have deep roots, also mourned his passing, noting the recent loss of his mother and offering prayers for his grieving family. The church posted,
“We were heartbroken to learn that Gary McBryar… passed away unexpectedly overnight at his home.”
Friends and former teammates also shared their memories, including Michael Barnes, who recalled the joy of hitting batting practice with Gary in high school. He wrote,
“Gary impacted many and was the ultimate example of a servant leader.”
Gary McBryar’s legacy is etched in the lives he touched—with compassion, humility, and unwavering service.
As the tributes continue to pour in, one thing is clear: Gary lived his life in a way that inspired others, and his memory will continue to do the same.
