The world lost a vibrant and remarkable soul after the heartbreaking passing of Spencer James Wipf, who died on June 11, 2026, at just 16 years old.
Born in Calgary, Alberta, and later raised in Morgan Hill, California, Spencer lived with a fearless authenticity that made him unforgettable.
From the moment he was born to parents Brian and Melissa Wipf, Spencer lit up the world around him.
Whether he was trailing behind his older sisters, Isabel and Rachel, or diving headfirst into his latest passion, Spencer did everything with focus and purpose.
He attended Nordstrom Elementary, Jackson Academy of Math and Music, and Live Oak High School, making lasting memories and friendships along the way.
Spencer Wipf Was Born An Athlete
Spencer Wipf’s athleticism was undeniable.
He first stood out as a gymnast, then quickly fell in love with hockey, playing defense for the AAA San Jose Jr. Sharks.
More recently, he brought that same competitive spirit to roller hockey, where he dominated with the Bulldogs of the Northern California High School Hockey League, averaging over five goals per game this season.
Off the ice, he developed a passion for weightlifting, embracing strength training with the same drive and discipline that defined everything he did.
The San Jose Jr. Sharks honored him with heartfelt words:
“Spencer was a quiet, respectful young man around the rink, who played defense with poise and confidence. Known for his lightning-fast skating and steady presence on the ice… he left a meaningful impression on teammates, coaches, and all who had the privilege of sharing the rink with him.”
Via InstagramThey encouraged the community to pay tribute with #sticksoutforspencer.
Spencer Wipf Was A Diehard Ice Hockey Fan
True to his roots, Spencer was a diehard fan of the Calgary Flames.
Despite being a loyal supporter, he would squeeze into a too-small Johnny Gaudreau jersey and wear it proudly, even at Flames vs. Sharks games.
And when Calgary’s season ended, Spencer showed his heart again by cheering on their rivals, the Edmonton Oilers, during their Stanley Cup run.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2026, at 1 PM at Lima-Campagna-Johnson Funeral Home, Morgan Hill, CA.
Rest in peace, Spencer!
