Joseph Marino, a respected coach at Pellegrino Mixed Martial Arts & Fitness Academy, sadly passed away at the age of 41 on Thursday, June 19, 2026.
His passing left a profound void in the Manasquan, New Jersey, community and beyond. Similarly, his wife, Christina Michelina Marino, grieves the tragic loss in private.
Joseph was renowned for his unwavering dedication and was more than a martial arts instructor. He was a mentor, motivator, and role model to students of all ages.
He blended intellect with discipline, teaching techniques, and life values such as resilience, humility, and compassion.
Joe graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and attended , a state public polytechnic university.
Afterward, he worked as a coach at the Pellegrino Mixed Martial Arts & Fitness Academy.
In addition to his role at Pellegrino MMA, he had been a manager and instructor at Shore Shot Pistol Range since September 1, 2026. His calm demeanor and commitment to safety earned him deep respect.
Furthermore, his passing is a heartbreaking loss, not just for his family but for the entire martial arts community that he helped shape with integrity and heart.

I can’t put my finger on one thing that I’m gonna miss the most because I’m gonna miss everything that you brought to the table. I will always miss our talks before the gym classes started. Joseph was a skilled trainer with a deep passion for martial arts, inspiring both competitors and fitness enthusiasts with his expertise and kindness.
As a lifelong martial artist, he dedicated his life to teaching discipline, strength, and perseverance. His tough yet compassionate approach earned him the respect and admiration of both his peers and students.

Furthermore, Joseph was a devoted family man. He shared a close bond with his mother, Deborah Marino, and was a loving husband to Christina Michelina Marino.

Moreover, Joe was in a relationship with Christina Michelina Marino since 2001. They met in a Calculus class and married in 2009.
Seventeen years ago, today, I had a first date with a pretty girl from my Calculus class. I was nervous and pretending to be suave, but she seemed to have fun. And then she kissed me. The Marino family hasn’t disclosed Joe’s death cause. They will soon hold a memorial service in his honor.
