Perkins School Football Player Bronx Ahlers, 13, Battles Brain Injury After Severe Accident Caused By Drunk Driver

Perkins School football player Bronx Ahlers suffered a brain injury after being hit by a drunk driver on Friday.

Bronx Ahlers was born on January 19, 2012, and is in the 6th grade at Perkins School. He also plays football, wearing jersey number 73.

He is a fan of the Vikings in the NFL and even wears wide receiver Justin Jefferson’s #18 jersey.

Ahlers has stayed away from social media, so only limited information about his personal life is known.

Bronx Ahlers Is Dealing With A Traumatic Brain Injury Following A Recent Accident

Bronx Ahlers, 14, suffered a traumatic brain injury after a drunk driver struck him on the night of Friday, July 4, 2026.

As per an Ohio State Highway Patrol , Bronx and his two friends were riding a three-wheeled bicycle southbound on Campbell Street.

One boy was able to jump clear of the bike before the crash. The other two boys were ejected when the motorcycle was struck and landed in the northbound lane and suffered severe injuries.

None of the boys were wearing helmets. Bronx was flown by medical helicopter to the University Hospital Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland.

In addition to brain injury, Bronx also has two lacerations that required 12 staples to close.

Bronx also has major contusions on the back of his head, as well as many other bruises.

He also suffered a fractured left scapula, also known as the shoulder blade.

A drunk driver, Joseph P. Fox, 34, of Sandusky, reportedly fled the scene of the crash in a 2015 Chevrolet Trax. The vehicle was later located in a business parking lot about a half mile south of the crash scene.

He was on Campbell Street near West Stoneway Drive, attempting to hitch a ride.

Perkins police officers and Erie County sheriff’s deputies searched the area and found and arrested Joseph.

Fox was taken to Erie County Jail and incarcerated on felony charges of aggravated vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

He was charged with two additional misdemeanors: assured clear distance ahead and OVI.

Joseph was scheduled for a 9 a.m. arraignment on Monday in Sandusky Municipal Court.

The bike the boys were riding was found to have a functioning rear red light, as per the patrol.

Fox was wearing his seatbelt, and the vehicle’s airbags were deployed as a result of the collision.

Bronx Ahler’s Parents Organized A Fundraising Campaign For Financial Help To Pay The Medical Bills

Bronx Ahlers was born to his mother, Angela Greene Ahlers, and his father, Jason Ahlers.

His mother, Angela Greene Ahlers, recently organized a fundraising campaign on  to pay the medical bills.

The campaign aims to raise $ 50,000, but it has only collected $4,297.

Loved ones and relatives have sent their prayers for a speedy recovery to Ahlers.

Bronx’s parents are also collecting photos and cards for Bronx Ahlers at Pizza Brothers of Sandusky, located at 3708 Columbus Ave.
