An American television producer, presenter, and businessman, John Brenkus, tragically passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 53.

John Brenkus had a remarkable career in sports media. He was best known as the creator and host of Sport Science, a six-time Emmy Award-winning show.

He co-founded BASE Productions and later launched Brinx. TV. Beyond television, he had a diverse career.

He authored a book entitled “The Perfection Point” and also hosted “The Brink of Midnight” podcast.

Moreover, early in his career, John Brenkus produced short films and music videos before transitioning to film and television writing, production, and direction.

He also filmed music videos for the DC-area band Emmet Swimming, which later signed with Sony Music and Epic Records.

John Brenkus Had Been Battling Depression For Years Before Passing!

Brenkus, born in 1971, had been battling depression for years and tried committing suicide two years ago, in 2026.

Despite his personal battle, he continued to contribute to sports media via Sport Science and Brinx. TV.

Growing up in Vienna, Virginia, he attended James Madison High School and graduated from the University of Virginia.

While at James Madison High School, he participated in various sports.

Now, regarding his family, Brenkus was married to Lizzie Brenkus, and together they formed the .

They collaborated on the viral Christmas song Christmas Is My Favorite Time of Year, which raised funds for charity.

They had two children together, though specific details about their names are not publicly available.
