Prayers For The Parents of Former Whitley County High School Student-Athlete Tye Hamblin, Who Lost Their 19-Year-Old Son In Accident!

A 19-year-old Tye Hamblin of Corbin, KY, took his last breath on Tuesday, May 6, 2026, at the Saint Joseph London Hospital, leaving behind his parents, Rodney Hamblin and Tara Jones Prewitt.

In addition to his parents, is survived by his siblings, , Logan Prewitt, and Bryson Lawson (Kenzie); grandparents, Dean and Tammy Prewitt, Jim Jones, and Dennie Hamblin (Judy).

Meanwhile, his sister Emily, a University of the Cumberlands and Whitley County High School graduate, changed her profile picture to one featuring Tye Hamblin, a quiet yet powerful tribute to her brother.

He also leaves behind his nephew Asher Lawson, his aunt Shea Lawson, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Tye Hamblin was a dedicated and talented athlete who significantly impacted high school sports.

As a standout player for Whitley County High School, he excelled in varsity football, playing as both an outside linebacker (OLB) and running back (RB) from 2026 to 2026 while wearing the #2 jersey.

In addition to football, he showcased his versatility on the basketball court, playing as a shooting guard (SG) for the varsity basketball team from 2026 to 2026.

After graduating from high school in May 2026, Hamblin attended the Kentucky Welding Institute, where he became a certified welder in March 2026.

Tye Hamblin’s Parents, Tara And Rodney, Have Already Separated!

Former couple, Tara and , shared two children, Tye and Emily Hamblin. However, details about their relationship timeline, including their marriage and separation, remain unknown.

Meanwhile, both Tara and Rodney have moved on with their lives and are seeing someone.

Hamblin’s father, Rodney, got engaged in December 2018, according to his Facebook, although information about his fiancée is unknown.

Rodney, although he lives a low-key life, in 2018 he penned a status showcasing his love for his two kids. He wrote:

Fixing to hit the grind…I just wanna tell Emily and Tye Hamblin…I love you two very much…I hope you never that…

Whereas, his mother, Tara Jones Prewitt, a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, is in a relationship with Jeff Prewitt. However, it is unknown whether they are married or not.

Although the precise details surrounding their relationship timeline remain unknown, according to Tara’s Facebook post, it appears they were together even before 2014.

Tara is nothing but content with her life with Jeff. She is grateful to have crossed paths with him and to have him in her life.

With an open heart, Jeff embraced Tara’s two children, Tye and Emily Hamblin, treating them as his own. Together, they had a son named Logan Prewitt.

In a heartfelt comment on a 2015 post where she shared a photo of them together, Tara expressed her appreciation for his kindness and devotion.

The post was filled with messages praising their bond as a couple. Responding to the outpouring of love, Tara wrote:

Thank u for the wonderful comments. Years ago God sent me this amazing man. He has taken in 2 children as his own & God blessed us with one more. In my darkest hours God allowed me to find him…& every night when I lay down next to him I thank God for sending him!!

She occasionally shares pictures of her partner Jeff and their kids on her social media, giving a sneak peek of their blissful family life.

Now that Tye Hamblin is no longer here, her emotions are beyond what words can express.
