On June 10, 2026, the Lone Peak community mourned the loss of 18-year-old tennis player Christopher Parra Cook, remembered for his kindness, faith, and joy.

Although the cause of his sudden passing has not been publicly shared, his family, friends, and teammates are cherishing the memories of a young man who touched countless lives.

Christopher was a proud graduate of Lone Peak High School in Highland, Utah, class of 2026.

, he poured his heart into the sport. His teammates and coaches were more than just a team—they were family.

The camaraderie, shared victories, and life lessons learned on the court were some of the highlights of his high school years.

Whether he was smashing a serve or cheering on a teammate, Christopher’s passion for tennis shone through.

His parents often watched proudly from the sidelines, marveling at his dedication and spirit.

Beyond athletics, Christopher was a young man of many talents. He had a sharp mind and a love for learning.

Music filled his soul, whether he was listening to his favorite songs or strumming a tune.

In the kitchen, he delighted in cooking, experimenting with recipes, and sharing meals with those he loved.

His parents, Melvin and Amalia, encouraged his curiosity and celebrated his diverse interests, watching him grow into a well-rounded individual.

Born in 2007, Christopher was raised alongside his younger sisters, Allison and Melanie, in a home filled with love and faith.

His parents instilled in him values of innocence and obedience, but it was Christopher’s tender heart that truly defined him.

Through countless small acts of kindness—helping a friend, encouraging a teammate, or simply listening—he brought joy to everyone around him.

His twisted sense of humor and thoughtful gestures left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he found joy in his beliefs and celebrated his friends’ and teammates’ mission calls with enthusiasm.

One of his proudest moments was playing a stripling warrior in the Book of Mormon videos produced by the Church.

With humor and wisdom, he shared important life lessons and showed them unwavering love. Their parents admired his patience and care.

Christopher’s friends were the light of his life. He considered his best buddies family, forging unbreakable bonds.

Their late-night talks, shared adventures, and endless laughter were treasures he held dear. His ability to connect with others, to make them feel seen and valued, was a gift.

As his parents wrote in his obituary,

The Lone Peak community and Chris’ family and friends are grieving the loss of this remarkable young man.

His sudden passing has left a gap, but his love remains. Many people support Melvin and Amalia Parra Cook and their daughters, Allison and Melanie. This support shows the impact Christopher had on others.

Funeral services to celebrate Christopher’s life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2795 Crestview Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84108.

A viewing will take place prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the same location.

An additional viewing is scheduled for Friday, June 13, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E 1300 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84108. Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.

Christopher Parra Cook’s life was a beautiful tapestry of faith, family, and friendship.

Though his time on earth was far too short, his influence will live on in the hearts of those he loved.

His parents, Melvin and Amalia, find comfort in their belief that they will embrace their son again “in the morning of the first resurrection.”

Until then, they hold tight to the memories of a boy who lived with integrity, loved deeply, and brought unspeakable joy to the world.

He was a son, a brother, a teammate, and a friend—a young man whose life reminds us to live with kindness, to cherish our loved ones, and to find joy in the simple moments.
