A proud graduate of The Latin School of Chicago, Gavin Siegel tragically passed away at 27.
Gavin Siegel was a former student-athlete from The Latin School of Chicago, graduating in 2017.
Standing at 5’8″ and weighing 160 pounds, he played as a point guard and shooting guard.
Over his, Gavin was a key contributor to the varsity basketball team for two years, helping lead them to multiple conference championships and a regional second-place finish.
In addition to his high school achievements, he competed with the NBU Elite Athletics AAU team. He trained for three years under the guidance of former University of Central Florida standout A.J. Rompza.
Off the court, Gavin balanced his athletic commitments with strong academic performance. He took advanced coursework, including AP Spanish and Honors U.S. Politics, and earned recognition such as the Spanish Award during his freshman year at Miami University.
According to his profile, he served as a leasing assistant at AptAmigo from June 2018 to August 2018. He was a social chair for nine months at Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
He was also a sales associate at Drains Made Simple for four months.
Gavin also participated in several extracurricular groups, including the Autism Support Club, Best Buddies, Free The Children, and performed in both the chorsu and men’s a cappella group.
Former Basketball Player Gavin Siegel Passed Away, Making Everyone Devastated
As per various reports, a gifted student of The Latin School of Chicago and a standout athlete with NBU Elite Athletics tragically passed away in July 2026, at the age of 27.
However, the exact cause of death has not been revealed yet by his family.
NEWs24 took to its official Facebook handle to the tragic news. They wrote,
The city of Chicago is reeling from the heartbreaking and untimely loss of Gavin Siegel, a beloved 27-year-old whose life embodied the spirit of determination, kindness, and inspiration. A proud graduate of The Latin School of Chicago.
Close ones and relatives have offered their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Gavin’s family to stay strong in this heartbreaking period.
Gavin will always be remembered for his unforgettable contribution as a former basketball player at NBU Elite Athletics.
The funeral service schedule will soon be announced by Gavin’s family. Rest in Heaven, Gavin Siegel.
Gavin Siegel Is Survived By His Parents And Sister Samantha Siegel
Former student-athlete Gavin Siegel was born in 1998 to his mother, Michelle Siegel, and his father, whose identity has been kept private.
Although his parents stayed out of the media spotlight, they always helped Gavin achieve his athletic and academic dreams.
He grew up with his sister, Samantha Siegel, 32, born on November 25, 1993.
According to Samantha’s profile, she attended Miami University and later graduated from DePaul University in 2016.
She served as a reservations manager at Ballyhoo Hospitality for six months.
From September 2026 to February 2026, she was a front-of-house manager at Corner Table Restaurants.
In July 2018, she founded a company named Sami’s Woof Pack. Since August 2026, she has also served as the director of development at Abigail Grace Productions.
Samantha has also been serving as the hospital manager at Vetique since February 2026.
