Taelon Peter’s mother, Jamie Peter, is a certified nursing assistant at Legacy Heights Nursing.

Liberty Flames guard the Indiana Pacers have Taelon Peter in the second round of the 2026 NBA draft on Thursday, June 26, 2026.

Peter was taken as the 54th overall pick in the draft. He is the third player in program history and the first in the Division I era to be selected in the NBA Draft.

He is the first Flame selected in the draft in 40 years, when Cliff Webber was drafted in the fourth round by the Boston Celtics.

With the recent selection, Peter became the highest NBA Draft pick in program history.

Mike Gailey, a graduate of Russellville High School, took to his official Facebook handle and congratulated Taelon. He wrote,

Peter had a pre-draft workout with the Pacers, one of seven teams with which he worked out. He also worked out for the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, and Charlotte Hornets.

He enjoyed a strong 2026-25 season with the Liberty Flames, as he was named the CUSA Sixth Player of the Year, tabbed to the All-CUSA third team, and honored on the CUSA Championship All-Tournament team.

Taelon also played for Arkansas Tech for 3 seasons before to Liberty for his final year.

He was the 2026-24 GAC Player of the Year and averaged 18.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg, and 2.3 apg during his final season with Arkansas Tech.

Shooting Guard Taelon Peter’s Parents Have Been His Constant Supporters

Born on February 27, 2002, Taelon Peter, 24, was raised by his mother, Jamie Peter, and his father, whose identity has not been revealed.

According to Jamie’s official  page, she has been serving as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at Legacy Heights Nursing since 2019.

Jamie has always supported Taelon in achieving his basketball dreams since childhood.

On January 28, 2026, Jamie took to her and congratulated Taelon for winning the North Little Rock Tip-off club player of the week award. She wrote,

Pretty amazing and blessed to have all of this happening so fast!! Taelon Peter was named North Little Rock Tip-off club player of the week. We got to go to a luncheon today at the NLR Chamber of Commerce. Guest speaker was Women’s Razorback head coach Mike Neighbors.

Jamie’s connection with Taelon’s basketball journey was noticeable during his farewell celebration at the Russellville Boys and Girls Club in 2026.

As Taelon to leave for Tennessee Tech to start his collegiate basketball career, the Russellville Boys and Girls Club threw a surprise farewell party.

Jamie also played a significant role in coordinating the celebration. In a text message, Jamie said,

“The club got ahold of me when Tennessee Tech got ahold of them to send a box of youth size shirts for the boys and girls,” . “Taelon has been in all aspects of the club. He grew up there playing ball and now those kids look up to him as a mentor for their future.”

On the other hand, although Taelon’s father has stayed out of the media spotlight, he has also supported Taelon in achieving his goals.

Currently, Taelon’s parents are proud as the Indiana Pacers have drafted their son, Taelon Peter.

Taelon Peter Grew Up With His Brother Jarrett Peter

Shooting guard Taelon Peter has a brother named Jarrett Peter.

Jarrett is a rising talent from Batesville, Arkansas, who is making his mark in the world of college football.

A member of the Class of 2029, he plays defensive tackle (#55) for Lyon College’s Men’s Varsity Football team.

He was committed to play for Lyon College in January 2026. He took to his official handle and thanked Lyon College’s football team for giving him a chance to start his career. He wrote,

Recently, Jarrett took to his to congratulate his brother, Taelon, on being drafted by the Indiana Pacers.
