Adrian Weger Gilmore, a Shoreham-Wading River High School coach who led the district’s varsity soccer teams to county and state championships, died on Tuesday.
Coach Adrian Gilmore was as the Regional High School Coach of the Year for the Fall East Region in 2019, after guiding the Shoreham-Wading Rivers girls soccer team to the program’s first state championship last fall.
Gilmore also coached Lacrosse and other community programs. She was one of only seven women soccer coaches to receive the award.
She taught sixth grade at Albert G. Prodell Middle School.
Adrian was Newsday’s Suffolk Coach of the Year and received co-coach honors for Class A by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls’ Sports.
Adrian Weger Gilmore Passed Away At 42 After Collapsing At A District Middle School

The Suffolk County Police responded to Albert G. Prodell/Shoreham-Wading River Middle School on Randall Road in East Shoreham following a 911 call at 2:55 p.m. Tuesday for an individual with a medical emergency.
The emergency occurred after school hours, while students were present and witnessed the event.
Suffolk fire officials said that Adrian was transported by the Rocky Point Fire Department’s emergency medical service to Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson.
However, Gilmore’s cause of death has not been revealed yet, as the investigation is ongoing.
In a late Thursday night to the school community, Shoreham-Wading River Schools Superintendent Gerard W. Poole said,
Gilmore was “not only a dedicated and passionate educator, but an outstanding coach, mentor and source of inspiration to many generations of SWR colleagues, families and students. For 20 years, Adrian served as a dedicated educator, most recently teaching sixth grade with unwavering commitment and care.”
Islip girls’ varsity soccer coach Mike Reilly said,
Gilmore was one of Long Island’s finest coaches. Their teams often met during county championship games, and he recalled how passionate she was about the sport and her players. “I don’t think her or myself are defined by all the titles we have, but I think it’s about the dedication, the time, the passion we put into developing our players,”
Mastic, New York, resident Charisse Jamroz organized the fundraising campaign on for Adrian to help her family with medical bills and funeral costs.
Heather Lentz Leccese, a Rocky Point resident, shared the link of GoFundMe on her Facebook handle and requested everyone to donate. She wrote,
Please consider donating to Adrian’s family in this difficult time. Adrian Weger Gilmore was a coworker and a friend who will be missed by so many.
Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Adrian’s family to stay strong in this heartbreaking moment. Rest in Peace, Adrian Gilmore.
Adrian Gilmore Is Survived By Her Husband, Timothy, And Three Children
Adrian Weger Gilmore married Timothy Gilmore. Tim’s official handle shows that he is originally from Fallsburg, New York, and attended Fallsburg Central High School.
Later, he graduated from Concordia College in New York. Tim and Adrian had three children: Kayla, Cameron, and Colby Gilmore.
Kayla Gilmore is a 5-foot-10-inch freshman midfielder who has immediately impacted the University of Maryland women’s lacrosse team.
A criminology justice major, Gilmoretouted recruit, ranked No. 7 among first-year students nationally by Inside Lacrosse.
Her dynamic presence on the field is matched by an impressive high school resume, where she was a two-time USA Lacrosse All-American, a five-star recruit ranked No. 6 in the Class of 2026, and a member of the USA U18 team that won the Brogden Cup.
Beyond Lacrosse, she also starred in basketball, becoming the all-time leading scorer at William Floyd High School.
Currently, Timothy and his three children are devastated by the tragic death of Adrian Gilmore.
