The city of D’Iberville, Mississippi, is remembering the life and legacy of Jeremy Forehand, a cherished hometown hero and the voice behind D’Iberville Warrior football.
He passed away on Monday after an eight-year battle with cancer.
Jeremy Forehand Had A Long Career On And Off The Football Field
Jeremy Forehand’s journey began on the football field, where he served as quarterback for the D’Iberville Warriors from 1993 to 1995, earning respect for his leadership and heart.
But his dedication to the Warriors didn’t end after graduation.
Over the years, he became a fixture on the sidelines, lending his voice as a commentator, helping with the field crew, and even working with the St. Martin Yellow Jackets and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College chain crew.
D’Iberville head football coach Josh Ladner said,
“I can’t remember a time when Jeremy was not involved in some way, either as a player or as just a contributor, a community contributor.”
Known for his work behind the mic at Warrior Stadium, he brought games to life for fans and made student-athletes feel seen.
Kevin Roberts, athletic director of Harrison County School District, added,
“He would come up here to the high school… during the practice week and interview the kids. He did little things like that to make them feel special. You don’t replace that.”
Jeremy’s reach extended beyond the field.
He built strong personal connections with students, faculty, families, and fellow fans, spreading joy and encouragement everywhere he went.
Jeremy Forehand Fought Cancer With Courage And Grace
In 2017, Jeremy was diagnosed with clear cell renal cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.
But he faced his diagnosis with humor and strength, often using the hashtag #wrasslincancer to show his fighting spirit.
His wife, Janet Forehand, a third-grade teacher at St. Martin North Elementary, shared,
“You wouldn’t have known that he was sick until recently. He had the most positive attitude. He did all he could to not let cancer define him.”
Even in the toughest moments, Jeremy remained consistent. He continued to show up for his family, friends, and community, often putting the needs of others first.
Jeremy Forehand Was A Family Man With A Giant Heart
Jeremy Forehand is survived by his devoted wife, Janet, and their daughters, Macey and Lanie Forehand, who say his love and presence never wavered, even on his worst days.
His mother, Marlene, siblings Melanie and Les, and numerous nieces and nephews are also left grieving a man who never stopped giving.
A close friend, Kyle Bennett, said,
“He never got to have a son. So, in a lot of ways, I feel like I was his son.
“I want to make sure I continue his legacy and everything that he meant to D’Iberville football.”
Jeremy was known to strike up conversations with strangers in the grocery store, on vacation, or at community events.
His warmth brought people together, often pushing his loved ones out of their shells with his natural charisma.
According to Janet,
“If he could help anybody out, he would. He’s just the best man I’ve ever met and ever will meet.”
