NFL standout Lucas Niang acknowledges his parents, Fatou Niang and Nabi Niang, for the many sacrifices they’ve made to support his journey.

Lucas Niang’s father, Nabi Niang, is originally from France, while his mother, Fatou Niang (also known as Fatou Ba Soumahoro Niang), hails from Côte d’Ivoire in West Africa.

They moved to the United States before Lucas was born, and he became the first in his family to be born and raised in America.

Lucas also spent part of his childhood in Switzerland before returning to the U.S., where he grew up in New Canaan, Connecticut.

Lucas’s love for football began in fourth grade when he joined a Pop Warner team that went undefeated through eighth grade.

Even though neither of his parents played the game, they supported him every step of the way. They drove him to practices and games, attended essential milestones, and encouraged his development.

Fluent in French, Lucas credited his parents in an interview for making him believe in his passion and having his back, saying:

My parents taught me how to work hard. They gave me everything, all the tools to be successful. I got my intelligence from my parents. I expect perfection from myself just because of how I was raised and what I was taught, but the love for the game is my own.

That passion and determination stayed consistent through high school and college.

At New Canaan High School, Lucas became a star, helping the Rams win three straight state championships. He later became a standout player at Texas Christian University (TCU).

Through it all, his parents cheered for him and kept him grounded.

When Lucas was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the entire town of New Canaan celebrated with a drive-by parade outside the Niang family home.

Lucas’s parents stood with him and his brother on their front lawn, waving as cars filled with friends, coaches, and neighbors honked and waved Chiefs flags.

“We couldn’t be more proud of him, ” Lucas Niang’s Parents Said on Seeing Him Win Two Super Bowl rings!

NFL star has won two Super Bowl rings with the Kansas City Chiefs, and his parents were there in person for those unforgettable victories.

After the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win in 2026, Lucas’ mother, Fatou, expressed her emotions:

This is an amazing moment for Lucas and our family.
We could not be more proud of him. He has worked so hard and committed so much to reach his dreams.

Whereas, his father, Nabi, also spoke about the experience of watching his son live out his dream on the Super Bowl stage:

It’s an unbelievable opportunity, as it was last year. The players don’t take it for granted and we don’t either.

Lucas, in return, never forgets to thank them. In an interview reflecting on his success, he said:

I am so thankful for everyone that has helped me reach my goals.
I am especially grateful for my family, who has always been there and kept me grounded throughout this process.

For Super Bowl LVIII in 2026, Fatou and Nabi traveled to Las Vegas to watch Lucas and the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers.

They planned carefully, securing 15 tickets for family and friends and arriving early to navigate the chaos of the Super Bowl.

His father, Nabi, said of their meticulous planning, saying:

It takes a lot of planning because the Super Bowl, there are people everywhere, you need to be organized in terms of what you want to do.

Las Vegas is going to be different because any Super Bowl is crazy, but Las Vegas is going to be next level crazy,” Nabi added.
