Neville Paul, a teacher and coach at Wellington College, has died.
Neville Paul, fondly known as Nev, began his teaching journey at Wellington College in 1986.
Over the next three , he became a much-loved and respected figure within the school community.
Teaching Physical Education, Science, and Physics, Nev brought energy, clarity, and a genuine care for his students into every lesson.
Across his long career, Nev held a range of roles in the classroom, adapting and contributing wherever needed.
For over 30 years, he drove the force behind Wellington College’s middle-distance and cross-country programs.
Whether in running shoes on the track or with a whiteboard marker in hand, Nev always led with heart, humour, and humility.
Coach Neville Paul Died, Leaving Everyone Devastated
Wellington College’s coach Neville Paul tragically died on Saturday, August 2, 2026. However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Wellington College took to its official handle to announce the tragic news. They wrote,
It is with great sadness that we share with our community the passing of Neville Paul. With gratitude and fondness, we remember Neville and all he gave to our school and community. We send our love to Neville’s whānau at this time. We invite you to share your memories and tributes of Neville Paul, our friend, colleague, teacher, mentor and coach.
In the comment section, many fans and relatives have poured their heartfelt condolences. John Hornal from Wellington, New Zealand, wrote,

Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Neville’s family to stay strong in this challenging time.
Although Neville’s family stayed away from the media spotlight, they always supported him in balancing his personal and professional life.
He will always be remembered for his unforgettable contribution as a teacher and coach at Wellington College for over three decades.
The funeral service schedule will soon be made available by his family. Rest in Peace, Neville Paul.
